Why this happens

This is an 'additive effect'. Rosehip naturally contains vitamin C, and many rosehip supplements have extra vitamin C added to them. When you take another vitamin C tablet on top of this, the total amount may exceed what your body can absorb, leading to digestive issues.

What you should do

Check the labels of both products to see the total amount of vitamin C (ascorbic acid) you are taking. For most adults, the recommended upper limit is 2,000mg per day. If your combined dose is very high, you may wish to stop one of the supplements or choose a rosehip product without added vitamin C. If you have a history of kidney stones, speak to your doctor before taking high doses of vitamin C.
