Why this happens
Both Fluanxol (flupentixol) and Wellbutrin (bupropion) lower the 'seizure threshold', meaning they make it easier for a seizure to occur. Additionally, Wellbutrin blocks the liver enzyme (CYP2D6) that breaks down Fluanxol, which can cause Fluanxol to build up to higher, potentially toxic levels in your body.
What you should do
You must speak to your doctor before taking these two medicines together. They may need to adjust your doses or choose an alternative treatment. If you are prescribed both, seek medical help immediately if you experience a seizure, extreme shakiness, or severe agitation.

Important precautions
Seizure disorders or epilepsy
This medicine significantly increases the risk of having a seizure. You must not take it if you have a history of epilepsy, an eating disorder (bulimia or anorexia), or if you are undergoing sudden withdrawal from alcohol or sedatives.
Enfermedad de Parkinson
This medicine can severely worsen the symptoms of Parkinson's disease and may interfere with the effectiveness of your Parkinson's medication.
Trastorno bipolar
These medicines can trigger a switch from depression to mania or rapid cycling in people with bipolar disorder. Monitor closely for racing thoughts, extreme energy, or impulsive behaviour.
Food and drink warnings
Alcohol
You should avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking these medicines. Alcohol can increase the sedative effects of Fluanxol, making you very drowsy. More importantly, both Wellbutrin and alcohol (or alcohol withdrawal) can lower the seizure threshold; combining them significantly increases the risk of having a fit (seizure).
High-fat meals
If you are taking the modified-release version of bupropion, taking it with a very high-fat meal can increase the amount of medicine absorbed into your bloodstream, which may increase the risk of side effects. It is best to be consistent in how you take it.
