Can I take Amlodipine and Danazol together?

Why this happens

Amlodipine is broken down in the liver by a specific enzyme (CYP3A4). Danazol interferes with this process by blocking the enzyme, which means the amlodipine stays in your system longer and reaches higher levels than normal.

Embarazo

You must not take danazol if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. It can cause the development of male physical characteristics in a female foetus. You must use effective, non-hormonal contraception (such as condoms) while taking it.

Grapefruit juice consumption

Avoid drinking large amounts of grapefruit juice. Grapefruit can increase the level of amlodipine in your blood, which may cause your blood pressure to drop too low.

Blood clots and stroke

Danazol significantly increases the risk of serious blood clots and can cause increased pressure inside the skull. Seek immediate medical help if you experience severe headaches, blurred vision, or sudden leg swelling.

Grapefruit juice

Grapefruit juice can increase the amount of amlodipine in your blood, which may cause your blood pressure to drop too low and increase the risk of side effects like headaches or swelling. Avoid drinking large amounts of grapefruit juice.

Alcohol

While alcohol does not have a direct interaction, both alcohol and amlodipine can lower your blood pressure. Drinking alcohol while taking this medicine may make you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint.
