Taking cod liver oil alongside candesartan may cause your blood pressure to drop slightly lower than intended. This could potentially make you feel dizzy or light-headed, especially when standing up quickly.
Why this happens
Candesartan is a medication prescribed specifically to lower blood pressure. Cod liver oil contains omega-3 fatty acids, which have a natural, mild blood-pressure-lowering effect. When used together, these effects can add up (an additive effect).
What you should do
It is generally safe to take these together, but you should monitor your blood pressure regularly. If you feel dizzy, faint, or unusually tired, speak to your doctor or pharmacist. They may suggest adjusting the timing of your doses or checking your blood pressure more frequently.
Important precautions
Pregnancy
You must not take candesartan if you are pregnant. It can cause serious harm or death to an unborn baby, especially if used during the second and third trimesters. Use effective contraception while taking it.
Food and drink warnings
Alcohol
Drinking alcohol while taking candesartan can increase the blood-pressure-lowering effect of the medicine. This may make you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or faint, especially when standing up. It is best to keep your alcohol intake within recommended limits and see how the medicine affects you before drinking.
Potassium-rich foods (e.g., bananas, spinach, salt substitutes)
Candesartan can increase the levels of potassium in your blood. Consuming large amounts of foods very high in potassium or using potassium-based salt substitutes (such as Lo-Salt) can lead to dangerously high potassium levels (hyperkalaemia). You should avoid using potassium-based salt substitutes unless advised otherwise by your doctor.

Can I take Lisinopril and Potassium together?
Taking lisinopril and potassium supplements together can cause the levels of potassium in your blood to become dangerously high (a condition called hyperkalaemia). While your body needs potassium for your heart and muscles to work, too much of it can lead to serious heart rhythm problems or even cause the heart to stop. Symptoms of high potassium can include muscle weakness, tingling sensations, or palpitations, but often there are no symptoms until the level is very high.
