Why this happens

Mirtazapine is an antidepressant that works on brain chemicals, while Stexerol D3 is a supplement used to maintain vitamin D levels. They are processed by different pathways in the body and do not interfere with how the other works.

You can continue taking both medications as prescribed by your doctor. As with any supplement, it is best to take them at the same time each day to maintain consistent levels in your body.

Depression and mental health disorders

Mirtazapine can increase thoughts of self-harm or suicide, particularly when you first start taking it or when your dose is changed. You must tell someone you trust that you are taking this medicine and seek medical help immediately if your mood worsens or you have distressing thoughts.

Low white blood cell count (Agranulocytosis)

Mirtazapine can rarely cause a serious drop in white blood cells. You must contact a doctor immediately if you develop signs of infection, such as a high fever, severe sore throat, or mouth ulcers.

Hypercalcaemia (High blood calcium)

You must not take Stexerol D3 if you have high levels of calcium in your blood or urine, or if you have severe kidney stones, as it can dangerously worsen these conditions.

Alcohol

It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol while taking mirtazapine. Both alcohol and mirtazapine cause drowsiness and can affect your coordination; combining them significantly increases these effects, making you feel very sleepy and increasing the risk of accidents.

Caffeine (Coffee, Tea, Energy Drinks)

Caffeine can counteract the sedative effects of mirtazapine, potentially making the medicine less effective for sleep or increasing feelings of anxiety.

High-fat meals

Stexerol D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin. It is best absorbed by your body when taken with a meal that contains some fat (such as dairy, eggs, or avocado).
