What is fexofenadine used for?

Fexofenadine is a type of non-drowsy antihistamine that is used to relieve symptoms of fiebre del heno y hives.

It is available in tablet form in three strengths: 30 mg, 120 mg, and 180 mg.

  • 30 mg strength is for treating hay fever in children aged 6-12 years.

  • 120 mg strength is for treating adults with hay fever.

  • 180 mg strength is for hives.

How does fexofenadine work?

Fexofenadine works by blocking the effects of histamine, a chemical released by the body during an allergic reaction.

When allergens such as pollen trigger the release of histamine, it can cause symptoms including sneezing, a runny or blocked nose, and red, itchy or watery eyes.

By preventing histamine from acting, fexofenadine helps relieve these allergy symptoms. It can also help reduce itching and skin rashes associated with hives.
