Can I take 50 and Aspirin together?

Taking 5-HTP and aspirin together can increase your risk of bleeding, particularly in your stomach or gut. You may notice that you bruise more easily or that small cuts take longer to stop bleeding. In more serious cases, it could lead to internal bleeding.

Why this happens

Both 5-HTP (which increases serotonin) and aspirin affect how your blood platelets work. Platelets are the cells that help your blood clot. When both substances are in your system, they can interfere with the clotting process more than aspirin would on its own, making it harder for your body to stop bleeding.

You should use caution when taking these together. It is best to speak with your doctor or pharmacist before combining them, especially if you have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding problems. Seek medical help immediately if you notice signs of internal bleeding, such as black, tarry stools or coughing up blood.
