  • 115 g streaky bacon, diced

  • 100 g onion, chopped

  • 1 pepper, chopped

  • 1,200 g kidney beans, drained and rinsed

  • 100 g brown sugar

  • 45 ml ketchup

  • 45 ml apple cider vinegar

  • 45 ml maple syrup

  • 45 ml treacle

  • 45 ml yellow mustard

  • 15 ml hot sauce

  • 10 g Creole seasoning

How to make Classic BBQ baked beans

  1. Preheat the grill to high.

  2. Place a large casserole dish or cast-iron pot over direct heat and cook the bacon until the fat begins to render.

  3. Add the onion and red pepper, cooking until they start to soften, about 3–5 minutes.

  4. Stir in the beans, including their liquid, and bring to a simmer.
