Can I take Furosemide and Soft together?

Why this happens

Furosemide is a 'water pill' (diuretic) that helps the body get rid of excess salt and water. Softened water replaces calcium and magnesium with sodium. Consuming high amounts of sodium can make furosemide less effective at reducing fluid build-up.

What you should do

You can continue to take your medication with your usual drinks. However, if you have been told to follow a low-salt diet for your heart or kidneys, be aware that softened water contains more sodium than hard water. If you notice increased swelling in your ankles or shortness of breath, speak to your doctor.
