Can I take Fempro and Lanol together?

Fempro (letrozole) works by lowering oestrogen levels to treat breast cancer. Lanol (atenolol) is a beta-blocker used for high blood pressure and heart rhythm. They are processed by different pathways in the liver and do not directly interfere with how the other works.

You can safely take these medicines together. However, you should have your blood pressure and cholesterol monitored regularly by your doctor, as letrozole can occasionally affect these. If you feel dizzy, extremely tired, or notice a very slow heartbeat, speak to your GP.

Embarazo

You must not take this medicine if you are pregnant or could become pregnant. It can cause severe harm or death to an unborn baby. If you are pre-menopausal, you must use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 20 days after stopping.

Do not take this medicine if you have a history of asthma, wheezing, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It can cause a severe, life-threatening narrowing of the airways.

Diabetes

This medicine can mask the warning signs of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia), such as a fast heartbeat or tremors. You must monitor your blood sugar more closely.

Alcohol

Drinking alcohol while taking this medicine can increase the levels of the drug in your bloodstream, potentially leading to more side effects like dizziness, drowsiness, or a significant drop in blood pressure. It is best to avoid or strictly limit alcohol.

Consistency with food

You should be consistent in how you take this medicine. Either always take it with food or always take it without food. This helps keep the amount of medicine in your body at a steady level.
