Porcini-Crusted Filet Mignon with Fresh Herb Butter

This sophisticated fillet mignon recipe brings a touch of fine dining to your kitchen, featuring a rich, earthy crust made from dried porcini mushrooms. The intense umami flavour of the mushrooms perfectly complements the tender, succulent beef, creating a restaurant-quality main course that is surprisingly simple to prepare. Using a spice grinder to create a fine powder ensures an even, golden coating that caramelises beautifully in the pan.

As a high-protein dish, these steaks are ideal for a special weekend dinner or an elegant date night at home. The homemade herb butter, scented with fresh tarragon and chives, melts over the resting meat to create a silk-smooth sauce. Serve these steaks alongside some garlicky wilted spinach or roasted root vegetables for a complete, nutritious, and comforting meal.
