A letter has been issued to community pharmacy contractors detailing the agreed Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) for 2026/27. The framework includes a 10.3% funding increase to £3.636 billion, which will support the stabilization of medicine supply and enhance the services provided by community pharmacies. The letter also outlines funding for independent prescribing, updates on the Pharmacy Quality Scheme, and upcoming regulatory changes.

As of 1 June 2026, the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) has taken over the ordering and distribution of Medical Certificates of Cause of Death (MCCDs) from the Department of Health and Social Care. Healthcare settings must register for the new NHSBSA ordering service to continue ordering MCCDs. For registration, email mccd@nhsbsa.nhs.uk. More information is available at www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/mccd.
Targeted prostate cancer screening programme recommendation accepted
The UK National Screening Committee's final recommendation to offer a targeted national prostate cancer screening programme for men with a confirmed BRCA2 pathogenic variant and a family history of related cancers has been accepted. Join the GP PSIRF Programme: shape the future of patient safety in general practice
Registrations are open for the General Practice Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) Programme, which runs from July 2026 to March 2027. This initiative, managed by the Health Innovation Network South London, invites GP practices, Primary Care Networks, Federations, and Integrated Care Boards across England to participate in enhancing patient safety. NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme – Digital pre-invitations rollout
The NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme has begun sending digital pre-invitations to eligible participants across England. Allocations for Nuvaxovid JN.1 (Sanofi) can now be requested through the FDP Supply Dashboard. Providers should not use Nuvaxovid for allergy clinics or for patients with a history of allergic reactions to vaccines. Those patients should be referred to local allergy pathways as per guidelines. Smaller pack sizes of Spikevax remain available for lower demand sites. For queries, contact your ICB.
Reminder: availability of alternatives to Levemir ahead of discontinuation
Healthcare teams are reminded about the updated Medicines Supply Notification regarding the discontinuation of Levemir products. Patients should be switched to suitable alternatives as stock is expected to run out by December 2026. Careful planning is needed to avoid further disruptions due to current supply limitations. Clinicians are advised to cease initiating Levemir and follow ABCD/PCDO national guidance for switching patients.
