Pan-Fried Jerusalem Artichokes in Sage Butter

This elegant vegetarian side dish celebrates the unique, nutty flavour of Jerusalem artichokes. When pan-fried until golden and tender, these seasonal tubers develop a wonderful sweetness that pairs perfectly with the earthy notes of fresh sage. The addition of bright lemon juice cuts through the richness of the butter, creating a sophisticated sauce that coats every slice. It is a fantastic way to introduce this underrated vegetable to your autumn and winter repertoire.

Quick to prepare and naturally gluten-free, these sautéed artichokes make a delicious accompaniment to a Sunday roast or a simple vegetable-led main course. The contrast between the softened artichoke hearts and the crisp, fried sage leaves provides a lovely texture. Serve them immediately while the butter is bubbling to enjoy this comforting, homemade dish at its absolute best.
