Taking magnesium and pregabalin together may make you feel more sleepy, dizzy, or unsteady on your feet. There is also a small chance that magnesium could slightly reduce how much pregabalin your body absorbs, making it less effective.

Why this happens

Both substances can slow down the central nervous system (the brain and nerves), leading to an 'additive' effect where the side effects of both are stronger. Additionally, some minerals like magnesium can physically bind to certain medications in the stomach, potentially lowering the amount of medicine that gets into your bloodstream.

It is generally safe to take both, but you should be aware of increased drowsiness. To ensure you get the full benefit of your pregabalin, try to space the doses out by at least 2 hours. If you feel unusually sleepy or dizzy, avoid driving or using machinery until you know how the combination affects you.
