Can I take Ibuprofen gel 10% and Quinine together?

Why this happens

Ibuprofen gel works locally on the area where it is applied. Quinine is processed by the liver and kidneys. Since the amount of ibuprofen absorbed into the system from a gel is very low, it does not interfere with how quinine works or how the body breaks it down.

What you should do

It is generally safe to use these two together. However, if you have a history of kidney problems, stomach ulcers, or asthma, you should still check with your pharmacist before using any form of ibuprofen, including gels.
