Taking betahistine and nefopam together may cause them to work against each other, making both treatments less effective. Betahistine is used to reduce dizziness by mimicking histamine, while nefopam has 'anticholinergic' properties that can block these effects. Additionally, both drugs can cause side effects like nausea or indigestion, which might be worse when taken together.

Why this happens
Betahistine works as a histamine analogue (specifically an H1 agonist). Nefopam has significant anticholinergic activity. These two mechanisms are pharmacologically opposite; the anticholinergic effect of nefopam may antagonise (block) the histamine-related benefits of betahistine.
