Why this happens

Nelfinavir needs a highly acidic environment in the stomach to dissolve and be absorbed into the bloodstream. Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces stomach acid, making the stomach less acidic and preventing the nelfinavir from being absorbed effectively.

You should not take esomeprazole if you are taking nelfinavir. These two medicines are 'contraindicated', meaning they should never be used together. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist immediately to find a safer alternative for your stomach symptoms.
