Can I take 50xl and Atorvastatin together?

Why this happens

Both medicines are processed by the same enzyme in the liver (CYP3A4). Metoprolol can also slightly interfere with how the liver handles statins. When taken together, the liver cannot clear the atorvastatin as quickly, leading to higher levels of the drug in your system. Additionally, both drugs can independently cause muscle-related side effects, so taking them together adds to this risk.

You can usually take these medicines together, but you should be vigilant. Report any unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness to your doctor immediately, especially if you also feel generally unwell or have dark-coloured urine. Your doctor may want to monitor your liver function or adjust your statin dose.
