Taking sildenafil (Viagra) and ramipril together can cause your blood pressure to drop lower than intended. This may make you feel dizzy, lightheaded, faint, or cause a headache.

Why this happens
Both medicines work by widening your blood vessels to lower blood pressure. When used together, their effects add up, which can lead to an excessively low blood pressure (hypotension).
What you should do
Back to contentsYou should use this combination with caution. It is best to speak to your doctor before taking sildenafil if you are already on ramipril. If you do take both, make sure you are sitting or lying down when you take the sildenafil, and get up slowly to avoid dizziness. If you feel very dizzy or faint, seek medical advice.
