There is no known interaction between 50mg of sertraline (Zoloft) and omeprazole (the active ingredient in Omeprazole/Losec). However, omeprazole can sometimes increase the levels of sertraline in your blood, which might increase the risk of side effects like nausea, tremors, or feeling restless.

Why this happens
Omeprazole can slow down the liver enzymes (specifically CYP2C19) that your body uses to break down sertraline. This can lead to slightly higher levels of sertraline staying in your system for longer.
What you should do
Back to contentsIt is generally safe to take these together, but you should monitor yourself for any new or worsening side effects from the sertraline. If you feel unusually anxious, shaky, or have a very upset stomach, speak to your doctor or pharmacist. Always take these medicines exactly as prescribed.

This makes you much more likely to experience side effects such as extreme sleepiness, restlessness (feeling like you cannot sit still), uncontrollable body movements (tremors or twitching), and dizziness. There is also a small but serious risk of a heart rhythm problem called QT prolongation.
