Taking sertraline (Zoloft) alongside liothyronine (T3) can sometimes make the thyroid medication less effective. This may lead to symptoms of an underactive thyroid, such as tiredness, feeling cold, or weight gain. Conversely, in some cases, the combination can increase the effects of sertraline, potentially leading to restlessness or a fast heartbeat.

Sertraline can change how much thyroid hormone is available in your blood by affecting the proteins that carry it. It may also slightly alter how your body processes the thyroid medication. Additionally, both drugs can affect brain chemistry, which may change how you respond to your antidepressant treatment.
