Why this happens

Both alcohol and buprenorphine are 'central nervous system depressants', meaning they slow down brain activity and breathing. When used together, their effects are added together, which can cause the body to 'forget' to breathe. Additionally, both substances are processed by the liver, and combining them puts extra strain on this organ.

It is best to avoid alcohol completely while using this patch. Even small amounts of alcohol can increase the risk of severe side effects like fainting or respiratory distress. If you feel unusually sleepy, dizzy, or have trouble breathing, seek medical help immediately.
