Taking Lixiana (edoxaban) and Zomorph (morphine) together may increase the risk of bleeding, particularly in the stomach or intestines. Additionally, Zomorph can slow down the movement of your digestive system, which might slightly change how Lixiana is absorbed, though the increased bleeding risk is the primary concern.

Why this happens
Lixiana is an anticoagulant (blood thinner) that prevents clots. Zomorph is an opioid painkiller. While they work differently, opioids can sometimes increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding when used with blood thinners. Furthermore, Zomorph slows down the gut (gastric emptying), which can affect how quickly other medicines enter the bloodstream.
What you should do
Use this combination with caution. You should monitor yourself closely for any signs of unusual bleeding, such as easy bruising, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, or dark, tarry stools. If you experience severe dizziness, coughing up blood, or persistent stomach pain, contact your doctor immediately. Ensure your doctor is aware you are taking both medications so they can monitor your treatment.
